On Saturday, 27th March Blackburn School organised the South Yorkshire Individual Chess Tournament which was organised by Mr. Walker.  41 children from schools in Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster took part in the U9 and U11 events.

Competitors from Blackburn were:

U11 - Dylan Platts, Thomas Hughes, William Smith and Iwan Robinson.

U9 - Scott Bradley, Oakley Martin, Lleyton Martin, Joshua Smith and Ashdonn Trigg

Children from the school achieved the following successes:

U9 Champion - Oakley Martin (tied with a boy from Sitwell) 4.5 out for 5

U9 Runner-Up - Scott Bradley 4/5

U11 Third Place - Dylan Platts 3.5/5

All of the children competed extremely well and were a credit to the school for their comeptitive play and good sportsmanship.
