Monday 1st September is an INSET day.   School re-opens for pupils on Tuesday 2nd September at normal times.

Welcome to Blackburn Primary School

We are situated in the north west of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, close to the well-known Meadowhall Shopping Centre.  We cater for children from the age of three years to eleven years.

We are proud of our school building and its environment.  The main school is a spacious 1950's building with a large hall, separate dining room, music room, library area, food technology room, special needs area and mentoring rooms.  The Foundation Block is a modern building and caters for children in the Foundation Stage.

There are three play areas - Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.  All play areas are well equipped and allow children of different ages to play in safe and secure environments.

We also have a playing field and a large environmental site that has a number of habitats. A Lottery Grant has recently been used to develop this area.  This has resulted in the provision of a beehive area, new seating and improved access.

July 2014  Actions to improve the quality of teaching are working and pupils are making better progress in reading, writing and mathematics.  This is because teachers' planning is better and learning activities are engaging pupils more actively.  Read more
